1. Quest for Excellence Seminar
The first of several regional seminars dealing with important issues relative to compassionate relief and development activities of the church will be held in Nairobi, Kenya August 11-13. Attendance is by invitation only, focusing on those involved in this type of ministry, or those with the capacity to influence such ministry.
            The Program for the seminar is as follows:
Monday, August 11

1. "Be Excellent to Each Other" with Don Tucker, founder of Africa's Children and director of Africa Special Ministries. This will be a presentation of the seminar objectives and a study of Isaiah 1:17.

Tuesday, August 12

2. Transformational Development with Kwame Wumbee, Director of AG Care. This seminar will focus on defining transformational development and the church's role in it.

3. Community Development with Brad Tucker, administrator of Cry Africa. This session will focus on the basic and best practice model for compassion outreach.

4. Community Ownership and Capacity Building with Alicia Zents (development education consultant). This will be a study of the role of the community in owning and sustaining projects by building community capacity.

5. Case Study: AGREDS HIV/AIDS Program with Alexis Danikuu of Ghana's A/G Relief and Development Agency. This will be a model presented for consideration.

6. Community Mapping Exercise. Alexis Danikuu (A/G Relief and Development Agency, Ghana) will conduct an exercise focusing on needs assessment and asset mapping for community-based efforts.

7. Evaluation Exercise with JoAnn Butrin, Ph.D. (Director of HealthCare Ministries, U.S. Assemblies of God). This exercise will consist of outcome evaluation and objectives attainment.

Wednesday, August 13

8. Contextualization and Sustainability with Kwame Wumbee. This session concerns building assurances of sustainability into contextualized projects.

9. Participatory Learning with Alicia Zents. This will be a study of the values and benefits of participatory learning  in comparison to traditional methodology.

10. Project Management with Kwame Wumbee and Brad Tucker. This last session will be a practical study pertaining to management issues of compassion projects.

A conference evaluation and feedback session is also included on Wednesday's schedule.

 

2. Africa-side Missionary Retreat
Regional Director Mike McClaflin has announced an Africa-side Missionary Retreat which will be open to those Assemblies of God missionaries and MAs in Africa at the time scheduled.
